Many of these articles are interesting, but also slightly unnerving. The information available is growing at leaps and bounds, but so is the differing opinions on the degree of impact for teachers. Technology is a great tool that can and will impact student achievement. The cost factor for initial integration is something that will effect schools worldwide. For me, byod is an option that would work with the majority of my students.
Areas of Impact: Student research, Educator research & availability, Student Collaboration.
The thing that still amazes me the most is that a number of people can read the same informative article and form differing views. This is true with written word and digital articles, but true regardless. Many young people in my classes rarely if never read a traditional newspaper, but instead get all their up to date info from the internet.

Marysvilles acceptable use of Technology Resources: http://image.schoolspan.com/files/marysville/filestore/5GRGBI2D.pdf
I support a strong acceptable use policy in schools. The Marysville Acceptable Use document is over 6 pages long and covers issues of bullying, harassment and misuse in great detail. In this case, it is much better to be safe than sorry. Technology as a tool is powerful and ever changing. Students can use technology for good "learning enhancement", or for evil "as a device to disparage or harass others." By having a policy in place that outlines the expected behavior, misuse is not left to chance.
